Deborah / Joy
Playing the drums saved Deborah Frost’s life. She had just entered Harvard days earlier when a senseless car accident killed her father. Devastated, Deborah was adrift until she found herself seated in front of a drum set. As she relates in this compelling—and often uproarious—interview with Currier suitemate Joy Horowitz, the combination of tragedy and rock and roll became the catalyst for a fierce, fearless life in the arts.
After leaving Harvard to play drums with the all-girl group, Flaming Youth, Deborah became a well-respected rock critic for the Village Voice and Rolling Stone, then jumped back into performing with the Brain Surgeons, a rock group she formed with her then husband, Albert Bouchard, of Blue Oyster Cult fame. Her story is uniquely her own and she tells it with unflinching candor and humor.
